What is telomere? It is a biological event closely related to the aging process of cells. Telomeres are DNA sequences located at the ends of chromosomes and maintain the stability of chromosomes during cell division. With each cell division, telomeres shorten slightly. When telomeres are completely depleted, the cell can no longer divide, resulting in cellular senescence or apoptosis (cell death).
